La cuvée de Penfolds' Magill Estate proviene de una sola parcela de Shiraz situada cerca de los suburbios orientales de Adelaida. El color del 2012 de Magill Estate es un hermoso rojo carmesí, oscuro y brillante. La nariz es rica y expresiva con notas de tabaco, cigarros, azúcar moreno, anís estrellado y clavo. En el paladar, es lleno y generoso con un hermoso peso de vino y sabores de frutas negras muy maduras. Los taninos son firmes y la estructura bien estructurada. Magill Estate 2012 tiene un muy buen potencial de envejecimiento: entre 15 y 20 años. Necesitará algo de aireación para poder disfrutarlo más joven.

Very deep purple-black in color, the 2012 Magill Estate Shiraz is made with 100% estate fruit and is aged 15 months in 65% new French oak and 30% new American oak and 5% in one year old American oak hogsheads (for a total of 95% new oak). The nose opens to aromas of warm blackberries and black cherries - very pure fruit scents - plus plenty of cedar, cloves and a lovely spiciness of Sichuan pepper. Taut, vibrant and expressive with a touch of vanilla coming through on the palate, this medium-bodied Shiraz has firm and grainy tannins and a long, lively finish.
